The Pro600 dashcam features an integrated road-facing camera and a detachable cabin-facing camera, which record events that happens on the road and in the cab, so you can have real-time and retrospective visibility into your fleets.

In the event of a collision or reckless driving behavior, the Pro600 will, as required, capture crisp, clear video clips and upload them to the cloud for evidentiary support and later review. The reliable 4G module allows data to be transmitted to the cloud-based platform faster, so you can respond or take action at the earliest time possible.

The Protrac Africa Ltd Pro600 allows fleet managers full control over the vehicle via the Protrac Africa Ltd fleet management platform. With its front camera, it records the road events, and the driver-facing camera records the driver's behavior. The video footage is then available on the fleet management platform for driver coaching and as proof in case of incidents. The Pro600 is an integrated product that supports GPS tracking, G-sensor, emergency calls, and more, making it the perfect choice to deter crime, record bad motorists, and more quickly resolve disputes resulting from traffic accidents. The camera combined with a modern fleet management platform can also be used as a simple tool for fuel monitoring, cold chain management, and security cases.

Driver Monitoring System (DMS)

Using DMS technology, the Pro600D can assess the driver's vigilance or attentiveness behind wheels and warn the driver with actionable in-cab alerts if any sign of drowsiness or fatigue or distraction is detected.

Driver Behaviour Analysis (DBA)

Leveraging data on the reckless driving behavior of your drivers will help reduce the accident rate, rate or coach drivers to increase safety awareness on the road, and improve the fuel economy of your fleet. This can further save you on your insurance expenditure.
» Harsh acceleration
» Hard braking
Sharp cornering

Real-Time Tracking

The GNSS module provides precise real-time location data of en-route fleet vehicles as well as cargoes. In this way, you can always keep an eye on them to see if anything unexpected happens during the transit and review these history routes if issues arise later.

Types of Alerts

ADAS and DMS alerts are typically split into two categories: passive and active. While the former refers to informative warnings, the latter includes functions that can directly control the vehicle itself. For instance, Forward Collision Warning is a passive alert, whereas Automatic Emergency Braking is active. The same concept applies to Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keep Assist, respectively. The lists below include some of the most common passive and active safety alerts that are currently offered by leading MDVR manufacturers.

Passive alerts:
• Forward Collision Warning
• Lane Departure Warning
• Traffic Sign Recognition
• Surround View Camera
• Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
• Blind Spot Monitor
• Driver Fatigue Detection
• Driver Attention Warning

Active support:
• Automatic Emergency Braking
• Lane Keep Assist
• Adaptive Cruise Control

Monitor driver behavior and vehicle activity with live-view video and audio recording.

» Cameras to monitor behind, in front and around your vehicle

» In-cab audio allows analysis, verification, and monitoring of communication and other cabin sounds

» Suited to fleet operators, industrial plant vehicles and heavy machinery, emergency and public transport vehicles

» Remote hard disk capacities between 500 GB and 1 TB and up to 180 days of recordings

» Choose between continuous recording; driver behaviour event; and emergency event buffering

» Files can create an evidence report including video footage, screenshots, location and related data

» Essential for insurance purposes and third-party claims

Coach safer drivers with ADAS and DMS

Though live video and playback is an essential aspect of MDVR, this technology also includes advanced safety and alert features. Thanks to this, fleet managers and business owners can have peace of mind knowing that drivers and couriers have some additional protection from various hazards and threats. With both Driver Monitoring System (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) technology to benefit from, it’s essential to understand what’s at stake.

Driving alerts in Protrac Africa Ltd

In order for fleet managers to receive safety alerts from the road, all ADAS- and DMS-related devices must be integrated with protrac Africa Ltd. Currently, the platform supports the logging of events, notifications, and reporting. When a triggering event occurs, an SMS or email notification is sent out from Protrac Africa Ltd that includes where the incident occurred, which vehicle was being driven, and which person was driving. Furthermore, managers have the ability to run reports that show how many alerts were issued for a specific individual in a given time period. That way, businesses can address which drivers need the most training or coaching.

What is DMS?

Unlike ADAS, DMS-related warnings focus on the individual behind the wheel. With the assistance of a driver-facing camera, this technology can watch for various signs of distraction or inattention, such as eating, drinking, smoking, yawning, or using a cell phone. In fact, many MDVR manufacturers also use cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) to further enhance facial recognition capabilities for better accuracy and safety.

Although DMS alerts differ from ADAS warnings, the two systems still work together to improve fleet safety. To clarify, a distracted driver might start veering off course and cross over the lane markings on the highway. In this instance, the individual may receive both a DMS notification to pay more attention as well as an ADAS alert to correct their error. Moreover, both types of warnings are used when calculating a given employee’s driving score on certain devices.

Just like with ADAS alerts, DMS warnings can be configured in Protrac Africa Ltd to ensure managers are aware of any problems as soon as possible.
